Family Time

We had Christmas with my mom’s family a couple of weeks ago. It was a great time and Katie really took to her cousins, Conor, Carly and Carson. They are so great with kids and love to play, which I think is awesome. Mason and Desi were also there, which is always a good time. Everyone got to meet Caleb, including Great Grammy.

Katie wasn’t really sure about having her picture taken that day, but discovered a great new way to play. She got out her black doggie and did her own little photo shoot with her own camera. It was so cute to hear her saying, “Say cheese, black doggie!” and “That was a good one!”

Her imagination has really taken off the last couple of months. She’s into playing doctor, dress up and cooking in her kitchen. Her dollhouse is a constant source of inspiration – I’ve walked back and found all her dolls arranged facing the same direction. Apparently they were all getting ready to watch Milo and Otis. We like to sneak back to her room with the camcorder to record whatever it is she’s pretending at the moment – I’ll try to post a couple of videos soon for your entertainment.

New Kid on the Block

So, we’re back…after a one year hiatus. I’ve got a lot of pictures to share, but first, I wanted to document the most important event of 2011 for us – Caleb’s birth!

Our little man

Caleb Elliott Price was born at 2:28 PM on December 21 via a scheduled C-section. He was 8 lb 5 oz and 19″ long. We had hoped to have a VBAC, but it didn’t work out. We were happy with our decision to have the C-section, especially after meeting our big boy! Caleb loves to nurse and was 8 lb 13 oz at his 2 week checkup. He’s a pretty relaxed guy and has fit right in to our family. Katie loves him and acts like a little mommy toward him. Here are some of our first pictures from the hospital. Enjoy.

Snow is Overrated

We had our first real snowfall of winter today. This is the first time Katie has been old enough to really get out and play in the snow. After getting her bundled up, discovering she had a poopy diaper and then having to start the process all over again, we made it outside. Katie wasn’t too excited about wading around or really doing much of anything. Apparently, she had thought we were going outside to do things like play with sidewalk chalk. Oh well…we still got some cute pictures. Maybe she’ll come around before this winter is over!

Mystified by Mommy

The Saddest Little Llama

Katie had a rough day yesterday. She didn’t sleep well, I was under the weather, and something was just off. As a result, she had a complete meltdown after dinner. One of those cries where you are a slobbery, sweaty, hiccuping mess and just can’t seem to stop crying. I had her on my lap trying to console her and she did the sweetest and most pitiful thing that I had to share it.

She reached for a library book we had been reading. As she sobbed and hiccupped, she opened the book and began to deliberately look for a certain page. This was what she was looking for:

She pointed to that sad little llama over and over as she sat there and cried. My heart just ached for her but I had to smile at what a sweet way to express herself. Sigh…I love that girl.

Black(bean)beard

Katie loves black beans. And she should – I think I ate them every single day I was pregnant with her. We thought this beard she acquired after her snack of black beans was pretty funny.
